Spring on The Moss (Horse Chestnut Spire)

Introduced by the Romans, the Horse Chestnut’s arrival in the UK was almost contemporary with the lifetime of Lindow Man. Found growing in the woodland margin on Rotherwood Road, it must have arrived on site by a conker being carried and dropped or hidden here. Stunning white spires covered the tree for a couple of weeks before fading.
